Olympics -- A lifetime of training for just ten seconds.
For athletes, hard work, training, hours of dedication just to get that desired result... It's a never ending chase of perfection.
The Vancouver Winter Olympics opened on Friday night. A grand opening that really captured the soul of Canada.
The events are extensive. A series of Skiing, Skating, Snowboarding, Ice Hokey and the lot. Every sporting event on a winter setting.
But one significant event ended up in tragedy. A Georgian luger by the name of Nodar Kumaritashvili, died in a horrible luge crash. The accident happened on Friday morning during a practice run. Officials have reported that the athlete lost control of his sled, went over the wall of the track and hit a steel pole.
The athlete has competed in five World Cup races finishing 44th in the world standings.
